MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION

This 8-week class is modeled on the program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD and the U MASS Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness. Studies show that consistent mindfulness practice can result in: less anxiety and a greater sense of ease, enhanced concentration, improved relationships, and greater resiliency. MBSR uses meditation, mindful movement, group discussion, and personal reflection to teach how to integrate mindfulness into everyday life. Mary is a trained MBSR Teacher from the University of California, San Diego, Center for Mindfulness and received additional teacher training in MBSR from Bangor University in Wales, United Kingdom.
TEACHING TECHNIQUES OF ASANA: ADVANCED ALIGNMENT & DEMONSTRATION with Tammy Dumais

The yoga student of today is often balancing many tasks, working extended hours, dealing with minimal and/or repetitive movements, eating on the run, stressed and fatigued. They often seek yoga for balance, but often present with malalignment and imbalances. During this module, participants will combine their knowledge of yoga with their knowledge in anatomy and physiology building further understanding of how to safely and effectively work with the yoga student of today. In addition to actively gaining a kinesthetic feel for what’s happening in your student’s body, participants will also practice training their eyes in recognizing patterns, confidently explore safest asanas that may be best suited in working toward refining and aligning, and how to determine when it may be best to not work with a malalignment and/or imbalance. May be used for 300 Hour Teacher Training or 17 Hours of Yoga Alliance Approved Contact CEUs.

IZZY WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO USE AND INTEGRATE YOUR MUSCLES TO KEEP YOU SAFE AND STRONG. STARTING WITH SIMPLE BUT USUALLY OVERLOOKED DETAILS ON HOW WARM UP AND ACCESS THE NEEDED MUSCLES WITH CARE. THEN BUILDING ON THE BASICS TO TAKE YOU DEEPER INTO THESE POSES.
