Day 366 or 1

When I set out on this journey it was supposed to be a 40-day Sadhana. I just wanted to see if I could commit to 40 consecutive days.

It started about an hour and a half a day, always asana, pranayama, and meditation. Why was I making this a competition for myself? Was the purpose recognition?
Each day I stepped on my mat. Each. And. Every. Day. No, it was not easy, no I didn’t always want to, but the key is that I did. As I did, things started to change. I had routine. A self-focused routine. I started to care more for myself, listening to how my body was feeling, what I was eating, where I was cutting corners.

My practice started to change, instead of watching and following some great teachers, I started to ask my body what she wanted. How did she want to move today? Did I want a vigorous practice when my body needed gentle rhythmic movements?

I started to incorporate my training as an Ayurvedic Health Councilor, I started a Dinacharya, my magic morning routine and customizing my yoga practice to fit the needs of my body, to be my in-sync body, mind, and soul.

40 days became 180…I stopped tracking the days, I just had my magic morning. What set me up for success. A way to start the day taking care of ME. No chaos. No white knuckling my way through a workout that I don’t want to be doing.

This practice is a part of me as I of it.
